PlasRecycle on BBC Radio 4, Today programme

PlasRecycle's Founder, Duncan Grierson, was interviewed live on the Today Programme on BBC Radio 4 on 5th October by Matthew Price, Chief Correspondent. The interview took place at the PlasRecycle plant in Woolwich. "Currently only 20% of local authorities are actively asking residents to recycle their plastic bags and other plastic films but actually polythene is totally recyclable.... Bread bags, laundry bags, multipack plastic packaging... There is really no good reason why everyone shouldn't put their plastic bags and films into the recycling system". PlasRecycle raises further funding

PlasRecycle has raised a further £2.75 million in funding from its cornerstone investor, Foresight Environmental Fund. The funds will be used to install further equipment and machinery at the Woolwich site and for working capital. The company has also promoted David Brookes to the position of Managing Director. David has over 25 years experience in polythene extrusion and recycling. Mike Thomas has joined the company as Chairman. 06.07.15
First tanker loads

PlasRecycle has installed new silos for storage of its recycled plastic pellet. We are now able to supply bulk loads of 27 tonnes in tankers.

PlasRecycle was visited today by Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, the Rt Hon. Edward Davey MP who said “It is great to see this investment in innovative green technology and to see plastic bags being recycled for the first time ever in the UK. PlasRecycle's plant is certainly impressive and its pioneering technology means local authorities and businesses no longer have to export, landfill or incinerate their waste plastic bags but have this state of the art alternative”

PlasRecycle yesterday welcomed Minister of State for Business and Energy, the Rt Hon. Michael Fallon MP, who was given a tour of PlasRecycle’s new recycling facility in Woolwich, South East London. Duncan Grierson, PlasRecycle’s Founder and Chief Executive, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Minister and show him around our new plant which is recycling used bags back into a high quality plastic pellet for reuse.
UK’s First Plant to Recycle Plastic Bags goes live

PlasRecycle is delighted to announce that it has built the UK’s first facility for reprocessing post-consumer polythene bags and packaging films, to produce a plastic granulate that can be used for making new bags, replacing virgin materials. Recycling 1 tonne of plastic packaging saves around 1.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide. PlasRecycle’s new high tech plant will also create 32 jobs, a useful boost to the local economy in Woolwich, South East London. PlasRecycle has spent the last three years developing a high tech proprietary process which is environmentally friendly and converts what has historically been regarded as a waste material into a useful product.
